Our Client is an established Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Contractor who are currently looking for a Mechanical and Electrical (MEP) Buyer to join its growing team based in South London


The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in a Buying role within the M&E industry and have a confident, positive, proactive & motivated personality with a ‘go get’ attitude.


In time, there will be an opportunity to help develop and grow a team in this position.


This is an office based job working 5 days a week, 7.30am – 4.30pm



  • Build and maintain relationships with all suppliers and assessing the reliability of suppliers.
  • Dealing effectively with challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials
  • Actively participate in answering incoming telephone calls
  • Liaising closely with the estimator at the tendering stage to ensure that an accurate project cost is provided
  • Identifying potential suppliers and new products
  • Assist in the management of incoming email requests to the Purchase Inbox
  • Obtain quotations from Suppliers for small value items
  • Negotiate prices and discounts with Suppliers for small value items
  • Raise Purchase Orders with Suppliers for small value items
  • Agreeing delivery times and if required booking delivery slots with our clients Traffic Management System
  • Reconcile invoices against purchase orders and ledger
  • Complete and return Credit Application Forms
  • Actively update On-Hire Reports
  • Keep the Management of Van stock up to date
  • Filing hard copy Purchase Orders
  • Manage and maintain the rebate spreadsheet
  • Ensure all electronic housekeeping is completed and up to date
  • Manage the New Supplier Process from issuing Contractor Assessment Forms to passing Contractor Assessment Forms to Accounts Team for inputting onto the databases
  • Inputting into and Maintaining Supply Chain Database
  • Manage the return of signed Subcontract Orders from Subcontractors
  • Upload Subcontractor Insurance details onto the databases
  • Positive and assertive attitude
